Visitor Center Assistant

Ottawa National Forest’s Visitor Center Assistant is responsible for providing visitor information and helping to coordinate responses to inquiries about recreation facilities, user permits, points of interest, and related activities. Additionally, they are tasked with educating visitors on Leave No Trace principles, which aim to minimize negative impacts on the forest. This position may involve developing interpretive programs and assisting in delivering interpretive and environmental education initiatives. Furthermore, there may be opportunities for involvement in media and exhibit development for use within the unit and the Visitor Center.
Sustainability Assistant

As an integral part of our commitment to Earth's well-being, FSPA's Ecological Assistant will play a vital role in nurturing this land. Responsibilities include restoring native ecosystems, tending to the greenhouse and gardens, engaging the community, and supporting programs integral to FSPA's ministries.
Environmental Educator Service Member

Aldo Leopold Nature Center is seeking an energetic individual to join its team in engaging both children and the public in immersive indoor/outdoor educational experiences centered around inquiry-based environmental topics. The primary duties of this role include providing support and assistance in ALNC’s nature-based preschool (ages 3 - 5), conducting educational field trips (mainly for grades K - 5), leading or assisting with afterschool programs (grades K - 5), leading summer camp programming (ages 4-12), and contributing to other educational initiatives along with assisting and engaging with visitors.
Overview
The Individual Placement Program connects our partner organizations who need help with natural resource conservation, environmental education, or capacity building projects with conservation professionals looking to break into the field and serve their communities through national service. Participants gain practical conservation and educator skills while working with a site mentor and exploring career options.
Members promote community service and environmental awareness through direct training and service in the outdoors. Participants serve at a single placement site, receive a biweekly stipend ($500/week) and AmeriCorps benefits that correlate to their term of service. Upon successful completion of their service hours, Individual Placements receive a Segal Education Award correlating to the number of service hours completed.
Individual Placement Members participate in valuable opportunities focusing on environmentally conscious activities. Our Members carry out research, maintain and cultivate interest in community gardens, community conservation programs, and carry out technical field work ranging from invasive species management to trails improvement. Members are supported and mentored by Wisconsin Conservation Corps staff, placement site staff, and agency leaders throughout their term of service.
